Meet Harley the Hedgehog 🦔

Cute isn’t he 😃

Please show your support for Harley and his friends by making a donation to Lancashire Hedgehog Care.

This is Harley’s story…….

Harley recently became a regular visitor to my garden, along with several of his chums.

Having set up a feeding station, a HogHouse and a camera to watch their antics, I noticed that all wasn’t well with Harley 😲

He appeared to be limping and in some discomfort, so I contacted Lancashire Hedgehog Care for advice.

“ Bring him in so that we can take a look at him” I was told, but I had to catch him first !!

My first attempt involved sitting in the garden for 4 hours and waiting for him to turn up, which he didn’t, so it was back to the drawing board.

The following night, I installed a door, complete with quick release catches, to the HogHouse and watched Hedgehog TV from the comfort of my sofa. I didn’t have to wait long before Harley wandered into view. He had a good feed and then obligingly meandered into the HogHouse.

Springing into action, I went outside and locked the door behind him. It was now Ten o’clock and I suddenly thought… what if it’s too late to take him, but I needn’t have worried as Janis at Lancashire Hedgehog Care reassuringly said “Can you bring him straight away?”

Harley, complete with HogHouse was then transported to LHC to be checked over.

Within 24 hours, he was given a clean bill of health and returned to my garden, where he continues to thrive.

Harvey’s adventure not only highlighted the vulnerability of this loveable species, but also the ongoing struggle of voluntary organisations such as Lancashire Hedgehog Care who rely entirely on donations to carry out their amazing work.

Please give generously to help support their work, which ultimately helps to protect Harley and friends from becoming a statistic on the growing list of endangered species 🦔
