Feeding Station

After a Hedgehog decided to take up residence in the Hedgehog House, possibly to have babies, I thought it would be a good idea to relocate the food to minimise disturbance from other Hogs and cats.

Having seen lots of different feeding stations on line, I decided to have a go at building my own. How hard could it be?

Easy to keep clean upside down

An upturned plastic storage box was used to form the main part of the feeding station, with carefully positioned bricks restricting access to hogs only, with the hope of keeping cats at bay.

I cut a five inch square hole in the box using a piece of scrap metal heated with a blow torch and held securely with mole grips. Perfect!! No sharp edges and I didn’t cut through the rim, so the box didn’t lose it’s integrity.

Plenty of room for food and water dishes and a camera.

When the resident hog emerged on the first night after installation, it took her all of 3 minutes to find the food and water.

Job done 👍
